Victoria Coach Station, London

Victoria Coach Station is the largest and main coach (intercity bus) station in London. The station is a transport hub and the terminal for many medium and long distance services, handling over 14 million passengers a year with departures and arrivals every few minutes. Services include the domestic routes on the UK mainland as well as international routes between Continental Europe. Coaches take the ferry or Eurotunnel Shuttle crossing the English Channel when travelling between the UK and Continental Europe.

If you’re travelling by coach to London from other locations in England, Scotland, Wales or Continental Europe, then you are most likely to arrive at Victoria Coach Station. The station also handles coaches taking tourists on countryside tours departing from London.


Victoria Coach Station is located off Buckingham Palace Road and a few minutes walk from London Victoria Station (a major railway terminal and underground station complex).

You can purchase tickets for most coach companies at the Ticket Hall, which opens daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. National Express and Megabus have their ticketing machines, which operate 24 hours. You can also purchase Oyster Cards at the Ticket Hall for travel on London’s public transport system. These include the London Underground (train), London Overground (train), Docklands Light Railway (DLR), TfL Rail, London River Services (river bus), Emirates Air Line (cable car), London Buses and London Tramlink.

Victoria Coach Station has separate arrival and departure terminals located on both sides of Elizabeth Street. Most buses arrive and depart from the station between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. There are 21 departure gates and recommended that you arrive at the station at least 30 minutes before departure. This would give you time to check the monitors for the latest gate information, head to the departure gate and then board the bus.

For refreshment or a meal, there are a couple of outlets at the departure and arrival terminals. There is also foreign currency exchange counters, cash machines and payphones located at both terminals. There is a left luggage facility and opens daily from 7:00 a.m. to 10:45 p.m. For parents with babies, there are changing rooms for the little ones located next to the toilets near Gates 2 and 12 in the departure terminal and toilets in the arrival terminal. There is a hotel booking counter located in the arrival area.


Victoria Coach Station is a short walk from London Victoria Station and the underground station here connects with the Victoria, District and Circle Lines. London’s red local buses No. 22, 211, 239, C1 and the N11 night buses stop just outside the Coach Station. There is a taxi rank located outside the station after the Eccleston Place exit. There are two car rental companies within walking distance, Hertz at 200A Buckingham Palace Road and Europcar at 12 Semley Place.
