Paddington Railway Station, London

Paddington Station is a central London railway terminal and underground train complex located on Praed Street in the City of Westminster. The station is the London terminal for the Great Western Main Line operated by Great Western Railway. It is also the London terminal for trains travelling to and from London Heathrow Airport.

The station is the seventh busiest in London handling over 35 million passengers annually. Paddington Station has 13 platforms numbered 1-13 with Platforms 6 and 7 used by trains connecting with Heathrow Airport. Surrounding the station are residences, restaurants and hotels.


At the front of Paddington Station is Praed Street and at the rear of the station is Bishop's Bridge Road. Nearby is St Mary's Hospital.


Railway Lines

The trains on the Great Western Main Line travel between Paddington Station and Bristol Temple Meads railway station in Bristol, South West England. Calls (stops) along the journey include Slough, Reading, Didcot Parkway, Swindon, Dauntsey, Chippenham, Bath Spa and Saltford. The Heathrow Express (a direct non-stop service) and the slower Heathrow Connect services connect the railway terminal with Heathrow Airport. Transport at Paddington Station

London Underground's Paddington Station directly connects with the railway station providing convenient access for travellers between the two stations. The underground station serves trains on the Bakerloo, Hammersmith & City, Circle and District Lines. Bus stops are located in front of the station on Eastbourne Terrace. The pick up and drop off point for cars is at the APCOA car park entrance on Bishops Bridge Road and another at the taxi rank off Bishops Bridge Road. The taxi rank is above Platform 12 and accessed via the concourse and platform 12 (there are escalators and lifts to get to the taxi rank). The car park is located outside the station at the APCOA car park on Bishops Bridge Road. Bicycle racks are on Platforms 8-9 and the season ticket holder bicycle rack on Platforms 10–11.
