Durham Tees Valley Airport, England

Durham Tees Valley Airport (IATA: MME) is a minor international airport located in the county of Durham in North East England. The airport is about 16 km (10 miles) southwest from the industrial town of Middlesbrough, 10 km (6 miles) east from the market town of Darlington and 39 km (24 miles) south from the historical town of Durham. It is one of the smaller airports in the UK and handled 131,000 passengers in 2017. Durham Tees Valley Airport has one runway and a single passenger terminal for arrivals and departures. There has been significant renovations and upgrading of the terminal in 2017 for the convenience of the passengers. Ground transport from the airport includes local buses, taxis and car rentals.

 
 

Airlines & Flights

Currently only three airlines operate at Durham Tees Valley Airport that include BH Air, Flybe and KLM. Flybe operates scheduled flights connecting the airport with Aberdeen in Scotland and KLM with Amsterdam in the Netherland. Flybe also operates seasonal flights to Jersey in the English Channel and BH Air operates seasonal flights to Burgas in Bulgaria.

Airport Facilities

Free Wi-Fi access is available within the airport terminal for up to 30 minutes. To connect and access the service, select the ‘AirportWiFi’ network. After the free period, rates are £3 for 1 hour, £5 for 3 hours and £9 for 24 hours. There is a cafe in the airport’s departure lounge serving sandwiches, paninis, muffins and snacks as well as hot and cold drinks. WHSmith is located in the arrivals hall and sells magazines, newspapers, confectionery, snacks and drinks. There is a premium lounge for travellers wishing to relax before their flight.

Ground Transport

Arriva bus no. 12 links the airport with the nearby town of Darlington. From here, you can transfer to other buses heading to the nearby towns and villages including Middlesbrough, Stockton-On-Tees, Yarm, Grimsby and Durham. The nearest railway station from the airport is Darlington railway station on the East Coast Main Line – the trains travel between London and Edinburgh with stops at Peterborough, Doncaster, Wakefield, Leeds, York, Darlington, Durham and Newcastle. Take a taxi from the airport to get to the railway station and there are taxis located outside the airport terminal. Car rental companies at the airport include Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar and Hertz.
