Islay Airport (Hebrides), Scotland
Islay Airport (IATA: ILY) is a small airport situated on the island of Islay off the western coast of Scotland in the Inner Hebrides. Known as the ‘Queen of the Hebrides’, the island occupies an area covering 619 sq km (239 sq miles) but home to a population of only 3,300. The island’s main industries are farming, fishing and tourism offering visitors scenic landscapes and magnificent wildlife including marine life and birdlife. Islay Airport is 8 km (5 miles) south of the island’s capital of Bowmore where most of the hotels, restaurants and shops are located. Airport opening hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturdays and 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sundays.

Loganair operates daily flights between Islay Airport and Glasgow Airport. Another Scottish airline, Hebridean Air Services operates twice-weekly flights between Islay Airport and Oban Airport on the Scottish mainland. The airline also operates twice-weekly flights between Islay Airport and Colonsay Airport on the island of Colonsay in the Inner Hebrides.
Islay Airport is a small airport handling around 31,000 passengers in 2016. Airport facilities include a check-in desk, departure lounge, payphone and cafe serving cakes, pastries, light snacks and drinks.
Parking is free at the airport and there are buses connecting the airport with the towns and villages on the island.
