Jersey Airport, Channel Islands
Jersey Airport (IATA: JER) is a minor international airport located about 7.4 km (4.6 miles) from Saint Helier on the island of Jersey in the English Channel. The Bailiwick of Jersey is a self-governing territory associated but not part of the UK. It is part of the Common Travel Area, meaning there are no passport checks when entering Jersey from the UK or Republic of Ireland and vice versa. However, there are full passport checks when travelling to and from other countries. Jersey Airport is a medium size airport with a single passenger terminal for arrivals and departures and handled 1.6 million passengers in 2017. Ground transport from Jersey Airport includes buses, taxis and car rentals.
Airlines & Flights
The main airlines operating scheduled flights at Jersey Airport are British Airways, EasyJet and Flybe flying mainly domestic routes. Others fly seasonal flights and include Aer Lingus, Germania, Jet2.com, Loganair, Lufthansa and Skywork Airlines. Most flights are on the domestic routes including Birmingham, Exeter, Glasgow, Guernsey, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Southampton. Destinations on the international routes include Dublin, Madeira, Rotterdam, Dusseldorf, Munich and Geneva.
Free Wi-Fi access is available throughout the airport. To connect, select the 'Sure Wi-Fi - Jersey Airport' network on your notebook computer or handheld device. You must accept the terms prior to access but does not require giving personal information. There is a foreign currency exchange service at the Customer Relations desk in the departure terminal where you can change a number of foreign currencies including the euro and US dollar. There is an ATM in the arrivals area that dispenses the Jersey pound, which has the same monetary value as the UK pound.
There are two Rapide food outlets, one located at the landside of the departure terminal and the other in the arrivals terminal. Rapide offers a range of hot and cold foods including hot brioches, baguettes, sandwiches and pastries. Shopping includes World Duty Free and Jersey Pearls offering a wide range of jewellery and gifts. WHSmith sells magazines, newspapers, confectionery, snacks and drinks. A left luggage facility is available charging £3 per item per day. There is a premium lounge for travellers who prefer to relax before their flight.
Bus 15 departs frequently from Jersey Airport to Liberation Station in Jersey’s capital of Saint Helier (30 mins) via Red Houses and St Aubin. If you prefer a taxi, there are taxis waiting at the rank just outside the arrivals terminal. A personal chauffeuring service is also available from Jersey Airport. Car rental companies based here include Avis, Europcar and Hertz.
