Land's End Airport, England
Land’s End Airport (IATA: LEQ) is about 2 km (1 mile) south from the town of St Just and 9 km (6 miles) west from Penzance, the most westerly major town in South West England. It’s a small domestic airport and opens Monday-Saturday from 7 a.m. until 30 minutes after the last Skybus flight. Land’s End Airport handled 59,000 passengers in 2017 and the airport resembles a large house with a cosy interior rather than a typical airport. Interestingly, the airport’s runways were once grass covered until resurfaced with asphalt in 2014. Nevertheless, Land’s End Airport is functional, efficient and there is a cafe for the convenience of the passengers. There is a bus service stopping at the airport before heading to Penzance.
Airlines & Flights
The only airline operating at Lands End Airport is the Isles of Scilly Skybus, operating scheduled flights to and from St Mary's Airport on the Isles of Scilly. Skybus also provides scenic tours flying along the southwestern coast of Cornwall offering spectacular views of the Cornish countryside and coastline.
Airport facilities include a check-in counter, departure lounge and a cafe. The cafe (Monday-Saturday) serves freshly prepared sandwiches, toasties, paninis, rolls, pastries and a selection of hot and cold drinks. There’s also a play area for children inside the airport building.
There’s a bus stop immediately outside the airport building. Buses stopping here travel to Penzance Bus Station, which is immediately beside Penzance railway station. National Express operates coach (long distance bus) services from the bus station and the railway station is the terminal for the Cornish Main Line running between Plymouth. For taxis, book and arrange in advance with a local taxi operator to pick you up from the airport. The airport has a car park if you are planning to drive and park here.
