Liverpool Airport, England
Liverpool John Lennon Airport (IATA: LPL) is located in North West England and about 12 km (8 miles) from Liverpool. The airport gets its name after John Lennon of the Beatles fame, who was born and bred in Liverpool. It’s a medium-size airport and handled over 4.9 million passengers in 2017. Flights at Liverpool Airport include domestic and international short haul flights to Europe and North Africa. The airport is currently a two-floor terminal and by 2030 will expand with new terminal buildings to handle long haul flights and accommodate increases in passenger numbers. Ground transport at Liverpool Airport includes local buses, coaches (long distance buses), taxis and car rentals.

Travelex operates two foreign currency exchange desks located on the upper and lower floors as well as cash machines (ATMs) dispensing euro and pound sterling currencies. To the relief of smokers, there is a designated outdoor smoking area located just outside the terminal building.
You can find a nice selection of restaurants, cafes and fast food outlets located on both floors of the terminal. Outlets include Frankie & Benny’s, Joe’s Coffee House, Starbucks, Burger King and Subway. Shops include WHSmith, SPAR, Boots, JD Sports and World Duty Free. Other amenities at Liverpool Airport include left luggage, baby changing facilities, mobile charging pods, multi-faith prayer room, premium airport lounge and hotels near the terminal building.
Liverpool Airport is about 5 km (3 miles) from Liverpool South Parkway, a railway station and bus interchange. Local bus 80A and 86A depart from the airport to Liverpool South Parkway every 10-15 minutes. There are regular train departures from Liverpool South Parkway to Liverpool Lime Street and Liverpool Central, both located in Liverpool’s city centre. There are also train departures to many destinations in the UK including Bradford, Leeds, London, Manchester and York.
Local buses depart from Liverpool Airport to Liverpool’s city centre and coaches to many destinations in northwest England including Birkenhead, Bradford, Manchester, Leeds and Oldham. There’s a taxi rank located just outside the airport terminal or you can call or book online for a mini cab to pick you up at the airport. Car rental companies operating here include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz and National.
