London Southend Airport, England
London Southend Airport (IATA: SEN) is about 65 km (40 miles) east of Central London in the county of Essex. It was once the third busiest airport serving London until overtaken by Stansted Airport in the 1970s and then went into a period of decline. However, passenger traffic started to increase when EasyJet in 2012 followed by Stobart Air in 2014 began to operate flights at Southend Airport. It’s a small airport with a single runway and one terminal building handling just over 1 million passengers in 2017. The airport handles both scheduled and charter flights on the domestic and European routes. Ground transport from the airport currently includes trains, minicabs and car rentals.
